Welcome to Thankful Family! Our new family blog.  

We are simply a thankful family who feel incredibly blessed to be raising our son and daughter, who are only 5 days apart in age.   Our incredible family was formed through open, domestic adoption.  Our adoption journey itself was pretty crazy and we feel as if we have experienced the full gamet of potential scenarios, but in the end, it was all worth it.   Every single day we look out our children and are so thankful for them and our new life as parents.  Parenthood is definitely a crazy journey with two wild and crazy 14-month olds, but we love every second of it!!   We will likely refer to our munchkins as “Stretch” (son) & “Smoochy” (daughter) for the purpose of this blog (though a few friends think we should refer to them as “Seek” & “Destroy”!)

The purpose of this blog is to document our life and our family and provide hope, inspiration and information to those who are curious about adoption, hoping to adopt and going through the process.  There are a lot of misconceptions about adoption, open-adoption and even adoptive families out there, so hopefully, in some small way, we can help clear up some of those misconceptions one mind at a time.

Over time we will share how our children came to find us – it is a pretty long story and one we think of as a miracle. We are blessed to have two amazing birthmoms whom we love dearly!  There are no words to describe how much we love our birthmoms or what they mean to our family.
